Something Old, Something New, Something BORROWED…!!!

April 24th, 2010

whitechicago2When it comes down to choosing a dress for the most important day of their lives, so many brides are allured by the bridal fashions of Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra and Badgley Mischka just to name a few.  So they go in search of this beautiful gown they have seen in a bridal magazine or on the runway, but what they are not prepared for is the sticker shock for their dream gown.  As soon as they see the price tag, their eyes begin to tear up and shoulders begin their descent as they shuffle in search of a “chain bridal store” that may offer a copy cat of the real thing.  This is where White Chicago comes in, located in the River North gallery district.  “With its striking interior, expansive dressing rooms, relaxing lounge and library and signature white runway (watch out Tyra Banks) White Chicago redefines traditional elegance for today’s modern bride.”   It is the brain child of Stacy Senechalle and Ursula Guyer .  This upscale resale boutique adds an entirely different meaning to old bridal adage “Something Borrowed”.  They offer new, sample and once wed designer dresses with out the designer price tag.   Just like you would expect at any other couture salon, each bride is tended to individually and given the upscale bridal salon treatment so they can feel like the princesses that they are.  White Chicago has  just recently launched their online web store and wedding gown listing service www.whiteXchange.comso that now its not just limited to .   Chicago brides but all brides are able to join in on the fabulousness!

So if you or someone you know has bridal dreams of grandeur without the fairytale budget, Send them (or tag along with them) to White Chicago, they will have white socks waiting on you at the door! white_CHICAGO_1

I Love…Love!!!

April 10th, 2010

LlovelogoSome say a picture is worth a thousand words, well in the photo-journalistic world of today a picture is worth an entire book… a photo book that is.  I am such a lover of great pictures, I enjoy being wrapped up in a story by looking at the expressions and the details of the photos.  I am a believer that (please don’t tell my videographers I said this, if you do I’ll deny it) you don’t need video to capture a moment a true photographer can do it through photos and Quish Love of L.Love Studios is THAT photographer.  She has a way of “capturing photos that tug your heart“! t&k3 Read more »

There’s A Party Going On Right Here…

April 3rd, 2010
terrystoffe2Now everyone knows how much I love a fabulous party, but what about when there is a party going on in your mouth!!! That’s exactly how I felt when i bit into this heavenly delight from Chicago’s best kept candy secret “TERRY’S TOFFEE”. For all of you Skor and Heath bar candy lovers out there, the toffee has truly been revolutionized. One of my all time favorite couples Sarah and Brad “Zoelle” decided to give me a gift of thanks for their wedding, (i really should be thanking them for allowing me to be a part of their beautiful celebration). So Jen walked into the Starbucks where we agreed to meet and handed me a gift bag. Little did I know that my new escape from stress was contained in this bag :) . Read more »

A Rose By Any Other Name…

March 21st, 2010

soniaroselli2“OMG” I screamed “She just beat her face”! Now normally with a statement like that you would expect my next actions to be a phone call to the police, but instead I was beaming from ear to ear.  You see “beating her face” is a term used by fabulous makeup artists around the globe and denotes someone who has just made magic happen on their clients face.  Sonia Roselli is one of those amazing makeup artists who you want in your corner.  Voted Chicago’s Best Makeup artist of 2009 I absolutely know why.  Gone are the days where you had to go to separate places to get your hair and makeup done before your wedding or special event.  Sonia has capitalized on the fact that most people desire to be in places of comfort around those who love them before their big moment!  So she along with her FAB associates pack up their “magic wands”  and bag of tricks and before you know it they are knocking on your door ready to “glam you up” From amazing lash extensions to customized make up once Sonia has been a part of your day you are guaranteed to turn heads and cause camera flashes to automatically go off without warning!!! We’ve Got You Covered…

March 6th, 2010

It is my desire to help you build the most fabulous event possible.  So I want to make sure that you have all of your bases “covered”.  What better way to start then to get that wood burning in your mind about linens.  No not the bed linens your in laws check when they come to visit, but the spectacular world of table linens that can make your event have that special WOW factor.linen3

Gone are the basic white, ivory and black colors.  There are now colors to match every combination, texture and pattern.  And we would be remiss if we didn’t mention that not only do you take your table from drab to fab but the chair can not be left out.  Any fine linen company you select will have your chair covers as well when you are forced to rent those less than desirable ballroom chairs.  Read more »

Dont Get Your Peonies In A Bunch!!!

February 28th, 2010

white_peony_bouquetWhether you are looking for the occasional centerpiece for your home, decor to liven up your gathering or to set the stage for your nuptials, flowers have become one of the most intricate details of events. On Average 8-15% of your event budget will be spent on flowers.  With the times we are in today that may not always be the most economical way to go and you certainly don’t want to skimp on quality.  We’ve all done it, needed a last minute floral arrangement and rushed into our nearest grocery store to pick one up only to be disappointed when they don’t even survive the car ride home.  Since you wouldn’t let your grocery store clerk do your taxes, why would you entrust them to handle your floral?  So, what can you do to have the best of both worlds?   Lets explore a few options that wont leave us sacrificing quality for quantity.  Read more »

Feeling A Little “TIPSY”????

February 20th, 2010

tipsycake_1021_004_1

As an event planner I am ALWAYS on the hunt for the best vendors for my clients.  And since Chicago-land is where I reside to say that there are a plethora of great vendors is an understatement!!! However on occasion you come across a true gem that you want to share with the world (while a little part of you wants to secretly keep it to yourself).  TipsyCake is one of those gems.  It is a storefront bakery located in Humboldt Park and it is owned by Chef Naomi Levine a wonderfully friendly woman gifted to us from Sydney, Australia “A place where independent pastry shops supply the city with freshly made treats day in and day out” – Naomi

The bakery counter makes you feel like a kid in a candy store.  On any given day you’ll be able to purchase brownies, rugelah, macaroons and my personal favorite guilty pleasure cupcakes.  Now since cupcakes are the new black, cupcakes I will drive all over the city looking for the best one.  Last week I walked into the store and all they had on the counter were red velvet cupcakes (I am certain that I am about to be disowned for this statement, however…) I really don’t care for red velvet cake.  So they informed me that there were a fresh batch of orange cupcakes coming up.  I am a pretty anal eater so I didnt think I would like them but I thought to myself, hey you only live once why not?  I have four words to describe my experience PARTY IN MY MOUTH!!!   Read more »

A-RIS-TA-CRAT

February 13th, 2010

HotelImage.aspxWebster defines the word Aristocrat as: anything regarded as the best, most elegant or most stylish of its time. I could not agree more. That is what I felt the first time I stepped into the Hotel Arista. Imagine bringing the class and exquisite taste of downtown Chicago to the nestled suburbs of Naperville. In the newly developed City Gate center located on Rte 59 sits my new favorite hotel venue spot. As soon as you walk in the door, you know you’re in for a treat. With the exceptionally modern (yet classy) lobby, customer centered and friendly staff and the wonderful restaurant you’ll never want to go back home. I have had the pleasure of coordinating an event there for the wife of a client, for her 50th birthday soiree. It was amazing!!! With help from Molly (the event director at the hotel) trust me you all she is an event planners dream; totally helpful and willing to bend over backwards to make sure that the client is happy. Have you ever experienced a wedding or convention at a hotel and even though the hotel may be upscale, the food leaves a lot to be desired? (of course you have) well not here, the food was unprecedented !!! In light of bridal season being upon us, I can only hope that the brides for this year strongly consider using the Hotel Arista for their special day!!! Thank you to Molly and the ENTIRE staff you helped make the event a success.

As always make it an Event-ful day!!
