Chicago the best sports city in the world who needs the Olympics?

Ok let’s just be honest. There’s only one city in the world, where you can have a team that has lost for 101 straight years, and still sell out every game. Now true indeed everyone at the Cubs games are drunk like your forever un-employed Uncle Bob (Please don’t act like you don’t have one of those) but hey, who’s even noticing? Chicago, a city steep in tradition from the “85 Bears” to Jordan’s Bulls; we have it all -except for the 2016 Olympics. Trust me there is no better religious experience than going to a Bears vs. Packers game in the middle of November freezing your ass off, all the while listening to Jonny Passaralli from Bridgeport argue with Dan O’Neal from Oak Park. Who’s better “Ditka or Halas”? It’s absolutely insane the pure passion that Chicagoans have for sports. It’s not just pro sports.

High School Sports are even more bananas. 18,000 at the UC for the City Basketball Championships. There’s 15,000 on a Friday night to see Mount

Carmel vs. St. Rita in football. We have it all, from soccer, rugby, lacrosse to AVP Volleyball in the summer at North Avenue Beach, or Washington Park’s cricket leagues. Hell, we are even home to the leader of the free world: President Obama, whose favorite baseball team is “The 2005 World Champion White Sox”!

Ok, so I have a problem in always introducing them like that. I have a lot of friends that are Cubs fans, so sue me. I mean we still even go to Blue Demon basketball games and they haven’t been good since Mark Aguirre. We have the “Original Six” Chicago Blackhawks, The Wildcats, The Flames, The Wolves, The Fighting Illini, etc. to the Legends Jordan, Payton, Butkus, Sayers, Fisk, Harry Carey, Ernie Banks, Pippen, Ryno, Isiah Thomas, DWade, to DRose. It’s a who’s who in the overall Mt. Rushmore of sports. I’m not even thinking about the Olympics. We are on Red Alert people. The White Sox are 900 games out of first place. Milton Bradley went Milton Bradley this year for the Cubs. The Hawks fired there GM even after they almost went to the Stanley Cup?The Bulls lost Ben Gordon. Oh and did I mention we traded for Jay Cutler? I mean we haven’t had a quarterback since JimmyMac. There are still passing records that Sid Luckman holds and he hasn’t played with the Bears since the 40’s. Think about how insane that sounds Sid Luckman! The hell with the Olympics we have to put are energy into more important sporting needs. Can I get a amen? I need a Super Bowl ring I’m starting to feel like a Cub fan (like I said before sue me). So head down to your favorite bar and have a beer or two. Ok maybe four or five. Because at least now we can concentrate on the Bears.
